Cute sheep trying to get through dog door

Tinkerbell, my pet sheep, would love nothing more than to live in the house with us. Unfortunately sheep are rather incontinent and smell strongly of sheep, so it's a no go. She does like to spend a lot of time with her head through the dog door watching what is happening and being part of the family. The dogs are my 14 year old German shepherd Bryn and 3 year old Rune, my standard poodle. Butterfly, the cat, makes a brief appearance.

Soo cute! I live on a property 2 days a week and my employers have a pet sheep.. We have tamed it via feeding it peaches, and on occasion (due to a dodgy back door) have been awoken at all hours by it wandering the house “Baaing” for peaches! Trying to force a sheep out of a house with wodden floors is an effort in itself! It does the moonwalk! Kool vid! I completely understand!

I don’t know if it is possible, sheep seem to have very little control. They haven’t evolved to be latrine animals like dogs and cats, ferrets, hamsters and even horses to a certain extent. In the wild they just go anywhere they feel like it, even contaminating their feed. Maybe someone out there has managed to housetrain a sheep, but even if it is possible, it would take much time and patience. I have too many animals to be able to spare that time. Also sheep smell very strongly of sheep…….

You should go to your city hall and ask them what species are legal to keep where you live and any other rules there are, say how big your property needs to be and how many animals you can keep. I suspect though that in most suburban areas sheep are not allowed, but you never know, it never hurts to ask………Good luck :)

  23. rupert10 says:

does anyone know how rural a home has to be to legally have a pet sheep?
i want one so bad, but i’m in the suburbs =/
